Battle of the Bands auditions open until April 15th April

As part of Summer Arts in Buntingford this June, band finalists from across Herts, Beds and Cambridge will fight it out to beat their competitors.

The Battle of the Bands provides a wonderful opportunity for young people from Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas to perform with other amateur bands on a live stage.

The winning band receives a full day recording session at the Music Bunker in Braughing, a further day of mixing and an invitation to open the evening gig at Layston Court Gardens. Additional prizes on offer include a professional vocal mic and rock band tutor sessions for vocals and production.

The first ever ‘Summer Arts in Buntingford’ will be held from 17th to 19th June 2022. The three-day event will be based in Layston Court Gardens in the heart of Buntingford.

As well as continuous on-stage performances during the day featuring local talent of all ages, there will be craft stalls providing demonstrations – a chance to try something new; a programme of events for children and locally sourced catering offering food from around the world. There will be ticketed concerts each evening with Friday incorporating the winner from the Battles of the Bands competition.

A panel of judges with professional experience in teaching, composing, and performing in bands will audition all entries and select a maximum of eight bands to perform in live auditions held at Seth Ward Community Centre, Buntingford on Saturday 21st May in front of an audience.

Neil McDougall, one of the judging panel said “There are so few opportunities for young bands to perform live these days, so with the combination of an auditions day in front of a live audience and the main event, we hope to give a good number of talented bands a valuable opportunity to promote themselves and to enjoy the experience”

All entries will be initially judged on video recordings uploaded to the festival website.

Entries are welcome from amateur bands aged twelve through to twenty-one from the Herts Beds and Cambridge area. For full entry details and to apply visit
