The Food Rescue Hub runs 3 times per week in Hertfordshire. Every week tonnes of edible food is thrown away by supermarkets in the UK as they clear older stock to make room for new. Fresh fruit, vegetables, bakery products and tinned goods that have days/weeks of life remaining are destined for landfill, adding to the every growing problem of CO2 emissions and climate change. Food Rescue Hub rescues this food and diverts it to fill tummies and not landfill. It runs 3 times per week at the following locations:
Tuesday – 9:30-11am – Attimore Hall Pub, Welwyn Garden City, Herts AL7 2AD
Thursdays – 9:30-11am – Half Moon Pub, Hitchin, Herts SG4 9TZ
Saturday – 9:30-11am – The Old Red Lion Pub, Stevenage, Herts SG2 9XR
PAY-AS-YOU-FEEL – your donation towards your rescue is what keeps the project sustainable. The suggested minimum donation is £5 for two bags of shopping per rescuer but of course any amount contributed is greatly received.
PAY-IT-FORWARD – You can also pay a donation in order for someone else who may need support to get their rescue shopping for free.
