To celebrate its 75th anniversary, ALGSS is returning to its roots with a special production of The Mikado, the very first show the society ever staged.
One of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most cherished works, The Mikado is a sparkling satire set in the fictional town of Titipu. With the light-hearted wit and charm that define G&S, the opera explores themes of bureaucracy, social pretence, and the wonderfully human tendency to overcomplicate life.
Featuring iconic songs like “A Wand’ring Minstrel I”, “Three Little Maids from School”, and “I’ve Got a Little List”, The Mikado showcases the duo at their finest. It remains a cornerstone of their legacy and a favourite with audiences around the world.
This anniversary production is directed by Philip Joslin, with Jennifer Carr making her debut as Musical Director.
Run-time: TBC
