Still Life by Noel Coward and performed by the High Street Players in Harpenden

Still Life is the play by Noel Coward that was later immortalised as the famous film Brief Encounter staring Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson.

A tragic love story of two respectable married people: Laura, a housewife and mother, and Alec, a doctor, who meet in a station buffet. Torn between their loyalty to their families and their passion for each other, the affair is played out in five scenes each set three months apart.

On Thursday’s Mix Morning’s programme, Iain Pritchard talked to the director, Francis Hall, and one of the cast Maggie Grand.
