Almost everyone familiar with St Albans will know The Pioneer Club and Skate Park just off Harpenden Road. Now in its eightieth year, the Charity was originally founded by evacuee’s relocated from London to St Albans in WWII and has since evolved to become a multi faceted centre that extends far beyond it humble origins as a simple youth club.

Now an iconic venue, in its early days The Pioneer Club has witnessed some of the biggest names of the er, including bands such Wishbone Ash and Motorhead. There’s lots going on at the Pioneer Club these days and Iain Pritchard spoke to Jon Prayer about what to expect from a packed September programme….
