There are plans for a large solar farm between Radlett and Elstree. Following a consultation process last year, Enso Energy has applied for planning permission for a 300 acre green belt site. They say that it would provide enough energy for 15,600 homes saving 25,400 tonnes of carbon every year.
But what would the impact of 300 acres of solar panels be on local people? And is this greenbelt site near villages the right place for such a scheme?
Amanda Yorwerth speaks to Sharon Woolfe of campaign group No to Enso Power Plant and Simon Wheeler, Head of Development at Enso Energy, the company behind the scheme.
