The Flamestead Scarecrow Festival has been held in the sleepy village of Flamstead every year since 2002. Residents enter a competition for the best scarecrow of the village, displaying their creations outside their homes. Visitors can walk around the village and vote for their favourite scarecrows. It’s a quintessentially eccentric English festival, with all the trimmings. Very ‘Vicar of Dibly’ and thoroughly recommended!! Top attractions, apart from the scarecrows, the tombola and the pub(!!) is the mini steam train and the bell ringing in a brief case!!
