Where have all the butterflies gone? and how we can help.

With this year’s Big Butterfly Count at an end, it looks like results might be disappointing. In this week’s Environment Matters podcast, Malcolm Hill from Herts and Middlesex Butterfly Conservation explains why this is, gives you tips on some butterflies that he thinks might fair better locally over the coming weeks, and tells us how to continue reporting our butterfly sightings even with the count finished.

For more information on how to create a Wild Space to help butterflies and moths go to Let’s Create Wild Spaces – Wild Spaces (wild-spaces.co.uk)

To identify the butterflies you are seeing and record them try this helpful app iRecord Butterflies | Butterfly Conservation (butterfly-conservation.org)

And for how to find the best butterfly sites and keep in touch with all the latest butterfly news locally go to Home – Herts & Middx Butterfly Conservation (hertsmiddx-butterflies.org.uk)

And Malcolm asks your help with the campaign to help all pollinators by supporting a national ban on urban pesticides by signing the petition at Go Pesticide-Free – The Pesticide Collaboration
