We are the local radio station for St Albans and the surrounding area of over 450,000 people.  We aim to enrich the lives of people who live and work in the area by providing a service of news and entertainment and involving them in our output.  We are licensed and regulated by Ofcom and operate 24 hours a day.

We are a not for profit company limited by guarantee and currently operated entirely by volunteers of whom there are around 70.  Our income comes primarily from local business advertising.

We aim to register as a charity if this is practical and want grow our operations to become better known and integrated in the community, supporting local charities and not for profits, statutory authorities, and businesses.

 

 

We are looking for someone to join our Board of Directors.  They should have some experience of management within a voluntary organisation, a good grasp of corporate governance, and understanding of basic finance, and a passion for our local area.  They do not need radio or media experience.  We would particularly favour a candidate with a marketing background.

In a small organisation, the Director is likely to become involved in operations, but needs to retain the detachment necessary to ensure strategic decisions are well founded and thought through.  The Board consists of up to eight Directors.

As a company limited by guarantee, the Board is elected by the company’s members of whom there are around 40.

We are financially stable at present, but our plans would call for revenue growth to support them.
