Football Reporters Needed

In September 2020 Radio Verulam launched The Local Football Show. In this time the show has developed a strong following with it’s in depth reporting and live match commentaries.

Airing every Tuesday at 7pm The show focuses on pure local football featuring St Albans City, Colney Heath, London Colney, Harpenden, Leverstock Green, Belstone, Sandridge Rovers, Colney Heath Ladies, Oaklands Wolves, City Youth, Harvesters etc

Ahead of the new season Radio Verulam are recruiting for a few new members to join the team. If you have a good knowledge of football, the local area & local teams; and think you have what it takes to be the next Alex Scott, Gabby Logan, Motty or Martyn Tyler please get in touch.

You’ll need to be computer literate, own a computer, an enthusiastic communicator and available on Saturday afternoons and one additional hour a week.
Additional training will be provided on the broadcast skills of commentary, interviewing and audio editing.

 

Typical time needed : 2 to 4 hours most weeks

Essential skills :

• The ability to use ‘Zoom’ to record from home on a computer
• Good local knowledge of the Radio Verulam area
• An understanding of the ‘off side’ rules!
• Availability at the weekends to attend local matches

Ideally you’d have these skills but we can train you :

• A passion and knowledge of local football, with a particular interest in both male and female local grassroots and non-league football.
• Strong communication skills
• Good organisational skills
• Enthusiasm and creativity, ideas are always welcome.

• Interview technique and broadcasting skills.
• You will work with other presenters, and will learn the role ‘on the job’.
