Our approach to Privacy

We take your right to privacy very seriously and respect any personal information you share with us and endeavour to keep it safe, whatever your relationship is with us.

Importantly we want you to know that we will not sell or rent your data to third parties.

This privacy policy is intended to give you an understanding of how and why we use the information you give us.

By using our website or providing us with any personal information, including sensitive information, you agree to your personal information being used and stored in the manner set out in this policy.

“Who is Mix 92.6?” 

Verulam Community Radio Limited is a Company Limited by Guarantee, run for the benefit of the community and restricted to not for profit operation. We aim to provide our audience, volunteers, partners and sponsors with media activities for the benefit of all.

“What sort of data might you hold on me?”

The personal information we might collect includes;
(a) your name, address, email address and other contact information (including details of your social media accounts/profiles)
(b) information you enter onto our website
(c) records of your correspondence with us, if you have contacted us
(d) information about your volunteering or employment with us
(e) details of your contact with us, including its frequency
(g) details of your visit to the site including your IP address

Except where permitted by law, we will never collect sensitive personal data about you without your consent.

“What will you do with my data?”

We use it to make Mix 92.6 better for you and everyone in our community. That includes doing things like:

  • Recommending things we think you’ll like, like different radio shows, local interests and events
  • Notifying you about things you’ve told us you like, like podcasts or competitions
  • Keeping in touch with you if you have been a guest on any of our programmes
  • Personalising parts of the Radio Verulam website to your personal tastes, including emails, radio programmes, news, community information and music.

We also use it for business, regulatory and legal purposes, like:

  • Dealing with any requests you make or content you submit
  • Getting in touch if we need to tell you about something, like a change to our policies or issues with a service

“Who has access to my data?”

As mentioned previously – we won’t sell or rent your data to third parties for them to use for their own purposes without your consent.

Our volunteers and consultants may have access to your data as part of their duties with Mix 92.6 and sometimes we may pass your data to third parties when they are working on our behalf. For example, we use a third-party email service called Mailchimp to send out our email news. However, we will only provide those companies with the information they need to deliver the relevant service, and we make sure that your data is treated with the same level of care as if we were handling it directly.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply any agreements, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Verulam Community Radio Limited.

We use third-party platforms such as WordPress (our website), Mailchimp (for email communications) and HubSpot (for marketing) where we also may store your data. These platforms have restricted access within our organisation and comply with GDPR requirements.

Advertising

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s previous visits to your website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

“What rights do I have concerning data you hold on me?” 

Your rights under Data Protection and GDPR mean that you may:

1. request a copy of the information we hold about you;
2. request us to update or amend the information we hold about you if it is wrong;

4. ask us to remove your personal information from our records (except where we are required to keep data by law);
5. object to the processing of your information for marketing purposes or;
6. raise a concern or complaint about the way it is being used

You can withdraw your consent for marketing at any time. If, at any time you do not wish to receive further information about us and our services, or you wish to change your contact details or preferences, please let us know by contacting us using the details above, or by clicking any unsubscribe or update profile link in any emails you may have received from us.

If you request to receive no further contact from us, we will need to keep some basic information in order to avoid sending you unwanted materials in the future, and to ensure that we do not accidentally store details for the same person multiple times.

Also, it is worth noting that if you opt out and then later opt back in your most recent instruction will take precedence.

“Consenting to Marketing” 

We will only contact you via SMS and email where you have specifically given us consent to do so or we consider it a ligitimate interest. For the purposes of sending marketing through the post and making marketing phone calls we may do so with your active consent or under something called legitimate interest as long as our legitimate interest does not outweigh your rights and freedoms.

In the instances you receive these calls and mailings you will be given the opportunity to opt out of this activity and you can also opt out of this at anytime by contacting us using the details below.
