For these roles, you must have regular availability between 0700 and 0900 on a weekday.

Do you have a passion for your local area?  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a radio presenter?  We have a volunteering opportunity for you. We are looking for local people to train as presenters .  You will work with a friendly team who will train and support you.  You’ll get to learn a lot about radio, meet and talk to people from local businesses, charities and organisations and share news and chat about what is going on with an audience in the area from Hemel Hempstead to St Albans and Hatfield, and the surrounding towns and villages.  The area is home to around 450,000 people.

This opportunity is open to anyone aged 18 or over.

Our breakfast show provides local listeners with upbeat music, information and entertainment and is their local friend on the radio as they wake up.

You don’t need any previous radio experience and we are not looking for people with a deep knowledge of music or radio.

You just need to be able to talk to people and share your love of our area.

You will be trained in using our studios and presenting from there using professional standard radio equipment and systems.

We would like you to be live in our studios between 0700 and 0900 on one weekday each week.  We can be flexible to cover holidays and other commitments and from time to time there will be the option to go live from home if necessary.  You’ll also pre-record an hour between 0600 and 0700 unless you want to go live in our studios from 6am.

You will need to be able to devote around 3 to 4 hours a week to presenting and preparation for each slot you cover.   Our studios are in St Albans.

This might all sound very daunting, but don’t worry, we will have an initial chat to explain everything and to give you the chance to see if this really is for you.

There is a charge of £70.00 for the training course.  The fee is waived for anyone in receipt of means tested state benefit such as Universal Credit, Housing Allowance or Pension Credit.
