We’ve heard a great deal in the news about refugees and Syrian refugees in particular.
There are some great initiatives in Hertfordshire to provide support to refugees and refugees families in particular. On the show will be one group called ‘Herts for Refugees’. Local mums Siobhan Burleigh and Sally Robinson and their children tell us what they are doing and why.
Green Councillor Simon Grover led an initiative 12 months ago to get Hertfordshire involved in the government’s scheme to relocate particularly vulnerable Syrian refugees. We ask Simon how that went and where we are now.
Finally we speak to Mebrat Deres, Systemic psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor. She works with refugees and came to the UK in 1986 as a refugee. Mebrat has over 25 years experience of working with refugees.
