Ross Bell was an army officer. When he left the service, he got involved in a business that would lead to him being convicted of VAT fraud and serving a prison sentence. During this time he joined a prison choir organised by a charity. This gave him a love of music. Due to the continuing support of the choir outside prison, he found a songwriting partner and formed a band.
