Rewind to Friday 26th April at 9.00am

Mix Mornings on Friday goes a little bit Folky.

With the popularity of folk, country and other roots music on the rise, we are going a little bit Folky ourselves on Fridays Mix Mornings .

Steve Simpson will be joined by Lewis Wood, a folk violinist with a new album out called Footwork, which combines the sounds of violin, guitar and step dancing, into a fascinating collection of new tunes based on traditions from across the country. Lewis will be appearing in St Albans, on the 28th April, at St Saviours Church for a special Footwork Live performance of his new album, and he talks to Steve about his excitement over the upcoming concert – lewiswoodmusic.co.uk

And Pete Nutkins, who is the main organiser of the Watford Folk Club will also join Steve to talk about the upcoming events, and  extend an invitation to new members to come along to their regular Friday night meetings at the Watford Pump House.  Involved with Folk music since the 60s, Pete has recently released an EP Miscellany, so there may be even be a tune to be played  – watfordfolkclub.co.uk

All this along with the usual stuff and nonsense for a Friday Mix Morning, including our lyric quiz , The World Famous Birthday Celebrity Quiz, the not so famous Connect 3 quiz,  and the inspirational Herts Beat introducing Hertfordshire to the sound of local singer songwriter Stephanie McCourt,  – stephaniemccourt.com
