…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Record producer and songwriter to the stars, Charley Foskett here,
Just thought I’d pitch this opportunity your way.
It’s never too late to start creating anything that comes from the heart, (1) especially if it makes one feel alive, (2) with the added bonus possibilities of others digging what you have created, (3) and not forgetting the important bit of pitching it out there and receiving a royalty stream to your bank account for doing so.
The date is set for another Summer Songwriting Workshop (Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May, 2024) with the emphasis on storytelling, lyric writing, rhythm awareness and top line melody – of course not forgetting the overall dynamics, musical structure, musical arranging and how we can deliver magic in our performance of the songs we write.
We are not looking specifically for ‘hot shot’ music reading musicians who have spent their lives religiously glued to the dots (sheet music) and the ‘terms and conditions’ so to speak. One of the most important elements that we shall be focusing upon and discussing as songwriters, arrangers and producers of music (in any shape or form), will be working ‘Intuitively’.
We will also be graced with the hit songwriter of ‘Stay With Me Till Dawn’ – The great songwriting talent and singer, Judie Tzuke. Judie will be our featured guest and storyteller and will be with us from 11.30 am on Saturday 25th May and will take part in a Question & Answer discussion on how she wrote ‘Stay With Me Till Dawn’ and countless other albums she has written and co-written and recorded over the years. She will also let us in on how a songwriter and composer can gain momentum in today’s world of music.
The song/s in our Summer Songwriting Workshop (‘24) will be primarily in the Roots/Folk/Americana/Singer-Songwriter and Mainstream crossover genres, and as they gradually come to life they will be recorded live at the end of the sessions, primarily for our own reference as we work together on your various creations.
The participants will have the option to have their song/s recorded and professionally produced in a state of the art recording facility. You will then have an opportunity to pitch your songs to international music synchronisation companies for potential inclusion in movie soundtracks and television theme music, and not forgetting major artists, which you, the composers, can see some healthy earnings from if used.
We shall start the workshop sessions on a small scale, spread over two days with hopefully around 20+ participants making up five songwriting groups of four co-writers per group. Their compositions will be assessed by the other participants and also helped on their way by us as they are creating them.
The Workshop venue will be the Wingrave Village Community Halls (HP22 4PE) on the borders of Beds/Herts/Bucks region.
We shall share the pearls of our wisdom (ha ha). Firstly, on how we can proceed and get ourselves into gear to help you find those musical gems that some of you may as yet, not even realise that you are in possession of, deep within your own capabilities and capacity as a songwriter, lyricist, poet.
We will have some discussion about the history of songwriting (commercial and traditional) and dissect specifically chosen songs to illustrate a variety of styles and subject matter. We will also let you into a little of our own background history of working with some of our greatest commercial songwriters, artists and household names too during our careers as writers and record producers.
Do let us know if this is something you’d like to sign up for?
With Best Wishes
Charley Foskett
