Good news for Hertfordshire river.

Everything we hear about rivers seems to be negative – they’re full of sewage and are filthy, climate change and abstraction are leaving them feeble and often dry, and their rich wildlife has long gone.

So it’s nice to have some good news about one of Hertfordshire’s internationally important, super rare chalk stream rivers, the River Ash.

In the largest habitat restoration project our county has ever known, the Herts and Middx Wildlife Trust has restored a 7km stretch of the river to make it better for nature and us.

And in this week’s Environment Matters Sarah Perry, river catchment coordinator for the trust, tells us all about this ambitious project.
